On the Cover: Arabidopsis heterotrimeric G-protein subunits have differential roles in the modulation of cell division in roots. In the root apical meristem, the heterotrimer complex (Gαβγ) is an attenuator of cell proliferation, whereas the activated Gα (GTP-bound Gα) is a positive modulator. Arabidopsis regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) is a seven-transmembrane protein with a functional RGS box that accelerates the intrinsic GTPase activity of Gα. For the formation of lateral root, the Gβγ dimer acts largely independently of Gα to negatively regulate cell division (Chen et al., pp. 887–897). Cover design by Alan Jones and Jin-Gui Chen.
