On the Cover: Medial paradermal and transverse views of confocal images of Vicia faba guard cells. A series of images at different focal planes was acquired while guard cell turgor pressure was controlled with a pressure probe. The images were used to calculate cell volume as a function of turgor pressure (Franks et al., pp. 1577-1584). Epidermal peels were stained with a fluorescent dye that accumulated in the cell membrane and wall and appears pink in the images. Chloroplasts autofluoresced and appear blue in the images.
