About the Cover
On the Cover: Ethylene regulates a number of developmental processes in plants, including growth of etiolated seedlings. Two articles in this issue (Binder et al., 2913 and Binder et al., 2921) examine the rapid kinetics of growth inhibition by ethylene and recovery after ethylene was removed to shed new light on the details of and mechanisms underlying these phenomena. The cover shows a series of time-lapse, digital images taken of a growing hypocotyl from an etiolated Arabidopsis seedling. Images were acquired every 30 min under infrared illumination and compiled to show growth of the hypocotyl over 7 h. Ethylenewas added after 1 h of air and removed4 h later. Cover image by Brad M. Binder and Anthony B. Bleecker.
