About the Cover
On the Cover: The cover photograph shows a micrograph of endosperm cells of a transgenic soybean seed suppressing the accumulation of the storage protein conglycinin. Shown in different colors are the ER-derived and Golgi-derived storage compartments forstorage proteins (green, glycinin, immunofluorescence) and ER-derived oil bodies (stained with Nile Red). The nucleus (stained with DAPI) and cell wall (stained with Calcofluor) are blue. The optical section was made by two-photon excitation using the Zeiss LSM 510 microscope in the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center's Integrated Microscopy Facility, by Monica Schmidt, Eliot Herman, and Howard Berg.
