About the Cover
On the Cover: The cover of this issue shows GUS activity throughout the gynoecium of an Arabidopsis plant shortly after fertilization. The plant carries a Ds gene trap insertion in a 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase, whose later expression becomes confined to the dehiscence zone of the silique. The insertion was generated by linked transposition using an Ac transposase under the control of a heat shock promoter from Glycine max. The insertion line is stable when plants are grown under normal to cool conditions. Internal reflections from droplets of 70% ethanol used for clearing create the wintry snowflake effect. The cover image was created by Bindu Nishal.
