About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the Cover: The cover art highlights some of the major themes of this Special Issue devoted to advances in Arabidopsis genomics and efforts to achieve the "virtual plant." Surrounding the DNA-entwined Arabidopsis in the center are images symbolizing a few of the major developments in Arabidopsis biology, namely, genomics, chemical genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and gene regulation by micro-RNAs. The circuitry in the background symbolizes the need to foster the development of a systems biological approach to integrate all of these lines of information into the construction of a virtual plant model having predictive abilities. The cover has been prepared by Ms. Jocelyn Brimo (University of California, Riverside) using an image provided by the U.S. Department of Energy
