Table III. Lignin and FA analyses for the wild type and the BdLAC5 (Bd4442) mutant line as compared with the Bd4442 complemented line3 (CP3) mutant line complemented with the BdLAC5 wild-type allele (T2 transformant)

Lignin content and structure for extractive-free mature stems were measured by Klason and thioacidolysis methods; FA level ester linked to the cell walls was measured by mild alkaline hydrolysis. Values are means ± sd from individually analyzed plants (n = 3). All the plants were obtained from the same culture experiment in the greenhouse.
